To kick off the month of February, we’ve added a new yoga class to our group exercise schedule: Vinyasa Yoga! Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement,” and it’s a series of poses that will move you through the power of inhaling and exhaling. The movements are smoothly flowing, which explains why it is sometimes referred to as Vinyasa Flow or just Flow.
Vinyasa yoga has both mental and physical benefits. Yoga has long been known to help improve core strength and increase flexibility. It has also been linked to lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels and better immune system functions. Mentally, the synchronized breathing relaxes your mind and helps to release any blockage of energy flow throughout your body. Most yoga practitioners feel less stressed and more relaxed after just a single class.
