1.) “It’s not a diet it’s a lifestyle change.” We hear this phrase all the time, but it’s true. Crash dieting, and cutting out certain food groups causes your metabolism to slow down. This ends up resulting in gaining more weight back then you originally started with.
2.) Focus on short term goals. If you get too far ahead of yourself, and try to take on too much you’ll get overwhelmed and be more inclined to give up easier.
3.) Increase the intensity level of your workouts for more results.
4.) Stay hydrated. Most of the time when cravings begin or people start to feel hungry, they’re dehydrated. Next time a craving comes on, drink a full glass of water and see how you feel afterwards.
5.) Make it a goal to do some sort of exercise 5-6 times a week. Even if it’s just walking the dog; try to do something active every day.
6.) Measure your success by the way your clothing fits rather than the scale. A lot of people get hung up, and frustrated when the number on the scale doesn’t go down. Muscle weighs more than fat, so you may not be losing the pounds, but you’re becoming leaner and toned.
7.) Don’t compare your body to others. Instead of having unrealistic expectations of your body to look like celebrities, aim to be the healthiest version of you.
8.) Limit alcohol to special occasions. A glass of wine here, or a beer there adds up over time. Alcohol is empty calories, and usually leads to poor food choices.
